INDICATION: This medication is a laxative used to treat constipation. It may help to increase the number of bowel movements per day and the number of days you have a bowel movement. Lactulose is a colonic acidifier that works by increasing stool water content and softening the stool. It is a man-made sugar solution. DOSAGE: Dosing in constipation or where soft stool is considered of medical benefit:
Adults and adolescents
Starting dose daily: 15 – 45 ml
Maintenance dose daily: 15 – 30 ml

Children (7 – 14 years)
Starting dose daily : 15 ml
Maintenance dose daily: 10 – 15 ml

Children (1 – 6 years)
Starting dose daily : 5-10ml
Maintenance dose daily: 5-10ml

Infants under 1 year
Starting dose daily: up to 5 ml
Maintenance dose daily: up to 5 ml
